ABS Warning light on?
Afraid your brakes won't work?
ABS stands for Antilock Braking System. A properly
functioning ABS system is designed to prevent your car
from skidding on heavy braking or braking on slippery
surfaces. It is supplemental to your standard brakes.
Through a series of sensors, valves, pumps, relays and
module the ABS system monitors the braking of each wheel
(or both rear wheels on a rear wheel ABS system.) When it
senses the lock-up of a wheel during skid, the ABS will
automatically pulse the braking of that wheel (or wheels)
to prevent skidding.
If your yellow ABS light or red brake
warning light are on, there's a problem in either system
which should be diagnosed. This doesn't necessarily mean
your brakes have failed, but there is a problem which
should be checked out.

Did You Know?
That just being a little low on brake fluid can
turn the ABS warning light on.
That many "brake shops" are not equipped
to properly diagnose ABS problems, often resulting
in an costly repair bill due to unnecessary
component replacement. |
