Your car is designed to continuously exchange information between the main computer (ECM) and sensors for optimum engine performance under all conditions.

Sometimes these warnings have symptoms and sometimes not, but a check engine light warning means that there is a trouble code being stored in your car's main computer. We retrieve these codes by connecting your car's computer to our diagnostic computer and run tests. One or more sensors or sensor circuits may have failed, and should always be checked out.

That a pinging engine is not necessarily cured by a higher octane gas. In fact, using a higher octane fuel can cause further problems, because it can lead to premature engine failure.
