Want to know more about your
SRS system?
First of all, SRS stands for Supplemental Restraint
System. To most of us, this means your airbags. If your
SRS light flashes or remains on, there's a problem with
the system that should be diagnosed. There are a number of
crash sensors, an SRS computer, an airbag module and many
special harnesses. All SRS harnesses are usually wrapped
in yellow covering and should never be serviced by anyone
other than a professional! Most manufacturers recommend
inspection of SRS systems every few years.
I know some of you out there want to
have the option to switch your airbags off. Be patient! We
hear that legislation is pending to allow this, and we
will keep this site updated as to if and when we will be
able to perform this service.
Even though a car's battery is
disconnected, the SRS system may still be active for up to
1/2 hour. Alot of manufacturers recommend disarming the
SRS system before working on certain electrical systems as
well!
